Wipeout Pure was the first version of Wipeout to appear on a handheld device, and was a proper rebirth of the game. I joined the Pure team right at the start of development as the physics and gameplay programmer, and the entire game was written from scratch to be the most kick-ass version of Wipeout to date.
I did quite a lot of work on Pure, since I was there from the start and it was a relatively small team. I wrote the physics/collision system, ship handling, weapon systems and local multiplayer code. I also helped with code architecture and general systems and gameplay code. Lots of the code I wrote for Pure was carried directly forward and used in Wipeout Pulse and HD. I even reckon there’s some of my code in the Wipeout 2048, but I’ve not had ‘official’ confirmation of that 8).
